Rocket project
Journal entries
- Today we made our new pressure chamber and started working on the parachute. I was super bummed that our first rocket exploded.
- Max, Keegan and I spent a lot more time on the parachute. We also cut our new Plexiglas fins.
- We glued the Fins on today. While we were gluing the fins on we ran out of glue.
- Made rocket longer and we named it Donald Trump, cause he's loaded.
- We had our first successful launch and our parachute deployed.
- Fixing parachute using string instead of fishing line.
- Spray painting rocket and putting money signs
- Another successful launch parachute deployed

Rocket Reflection
At the exhibition last Friday my rocket had a pretty successful launch. After the launch I wasn't totally satisfied with the outcome. I was super happy about the deployment of the parachute but the rocket could have definitely gone higher. Some of my friends rockets went 700 feet high but there parachutes didn't deploy. Ours only went 200 feet and the parachute did deploy so we got an A but our rocket could have gone at least 500 feet higher. In some ways we did very well but thanks to our procrastination we weren't able to do as well as we could have. I was also a little frustrated at my partners even though I was just as much to blame as them. I wish that I had been better able to handle my anger with them. I may have lashed out through my frustration.
After the launch I may have felt a little annoyed because of the fact that I knew how much higher our rocket could have gone. I was also was a little angry because I knew that there was nothing I could do to change that final outcome. Another thing that made me angry was that I could have spent more time on it but instead I used that time for fun. At one point I even left my partners to do the work while I messed around outside. Even though I wasn't totally satisfied with the final outcome I wasn't totally disappointed. Next time a similar project comes up like this I hope that I can do a better just by using my time more wisely. I procrastinated too much and I was lazy about doing work. I probably missed an hour total of work because of my laziness. The faults in my rocket are due to the faults in my work ethic.

Rocket Conclusion
For our rocket project our class we had to make a Data Table at the end. We had to find out about our theoretical time and compare our real time to it. Fist we had to find the max height, we have to find the max height by multiplying the distance away from the rocket by our tangent angle. Then we calculated the velocity by the dividing the distance by time. To find the theoretical height we had to take the max height and divide it by 1 half of acceleration due to gravity. To find the percent error you divide the actual time by the theoretical time. That will get you the percent error of what time you actually got compared to what you should have got. The lower this percent is the better you did. These are my numbers.
Distance Away- 174 ft
Angle- 44 degrees
Max height- 50.9 ft roughly
Velocity- 8.12 m/s
Theoretical Height- 10.38
Percent Error- 2.25% error
